5th grade ornament project

05:41 Dec 10 2007
Times Read: 675

The flyer sent home said "Please work with your child to create an ornament that we will use to decorate our 5th grade Heritage/Unity Wreath. The ornament should depict your family's holiday beliefs and traditions. You may use any materials that you like for this project. We will hang the finished projects on a paper wreath in the fifth grade hallway for everyone to see, so make sure it is creative and festive."

We did.. I wove the wire to make the star for the pentagram.. I pricked my fingers many times.. I blead for this project.. My son kissed my fingers and told me it looked great and thank you for helping him be honest about his beliefs. Have I mentioned he is 11?

He is proud of this ornament and we hope to get it back.

We painted, he glittered, I worked the wire, he hunted for twigs for the yule bundle, I wrapped them in ribbon. I wound the gold thread around it all.. speaking to both children about the importance of holding onto our beliefs and that no one can tell us what to think or say. This is our right and one that their stepfather and people like him fight to protect.

We are a blended religion house hold. We find value in all things and share them with our children and others. This is our ornament, we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
